More precisely the Bassmaster Elite. I was really excited to have this project come across my desk. I was contacted to design custom Buffs for a few Bassmaster tournament anglers. I designed Buffs for Ott Defoe and Brandon Card.
Ott Defoe wanted a bass scale pattern incorporated into his design and wanted his logo added somewhere in the design. I created the scale pattern using Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel Painter X. I used Corel’s watercolor brushes to create the base layer for the rest of the element so sit on. I used illustrator to make the scale shapes and ported everything over to Photoshop for final tweaking. One version of Ott’s Buff features a simulated logo patch which I generated through the use of Illustrator and Photoshop.
My initial and favorite concept for Brandon Card was a reinterpretation of a playing card. I incorporated commonly used bass fishing lures and bits from his existing logo to make the boarder. I thought since Brandon was 2012’s rookie of the year I would make the card a “king” where I incorporated more bits of his logo and other fishing gear.
